Best socks for pickleball.

Not a joke category. Pickleball is lateral lunges on abrasive courts — your socks are load-bearing equipment.

The one rule: no cotton. Cotton holds sweat, sweat makes friction, friction makes blisters. Everything below is synthetic or merino.

  • The safe pick: thick cushioned crew (Thorlo-style tennis sock)
Dense padding under the ball of the foot — exactly where pickleball's stop-start footwork chews you up. Boring, durable, correct.

Tradeoff: Runs warm in summer. Your feet will look like your dad's.

  • The blister-proof pick: double-layer socks (Wrightsock-style)
Two thin layers rub against each other instead of your skin. If you've ever lost a weekend to a heel blister, this is the fix.

Feels odd for the first session, and they wear out faster than thick single-layer socks.

Tradeoff:
  • The summer pick: thin merino court socks
Merino handles sweat without going swampy, and modern court cuts still pad the forefoot. Cool feet, no stink.

Tradeoff: Costs sock-enthusiast money, and thin means less impact cushioning.
